How many foreign language and fine art credits do you need to get into most colleges?

I'm a freshman and I already have 1foreign language and 0.5 fine art credit. I want to know how many more of both I would need to be able to go to most colleges.

  1. The foreign language would need to be retaken in college again, unless the class you took was an Ap, where you passed the test and recieved college credit, then in that circumstance, you would have completed both your high school and college language credit.
  2. In terms of foreign languages, it varies. I'd say at the very least, MOST colleges want to see two years/credits of one language at the high school level. (A few don't need any foreign language in high school for admission.) The other person was confusing college admission (getting in) and the COLLEGE'S graduation requirements (getting out) in foreign language. That is the only reason why COLLEGE LEVEL credit (such as AP) would be a factor. Some colleges don't require any foreign language to graduate, some at least need to see some proficiency (meaning you can test out based on your high school knowledge), and some will need you to take college-level classes (which can include AP and passing the AP test). But you weren't asking that. As for fine art credit, it is rarely above .5 that you need for college admission. Unless, of course, you are applying to a fine arts program.
  3. ZERO!!! Colleges look at SAT,ACT,GPA. Everything else is irrelevant.
