What are some of the most famous pieces of MODERN art?

I want to do an essay on modernism in which I incorporate modern art, but me not being the most artistic in the bunch I don't know any pieces that stand out in this era. What specific modern (NOT contemporary) art pieces stand out from the rest? Thank you! :)

2. Peit Mondrian and Danny Warhol are two of some of the most famous modern artists of the 1900's and are extremely popular/influential over modern pop culture.
3. Anything by Andy Warhol, especially his Campbell's soup can. Anything by Pollock (he did the splattered paint on his un-gessoed canvases on the ground)
