I've even gone to the school and sat in on a class. I would like to know if anyone has had personal experience with the school. Thank you.

Any good art school pre-college summer program for high school students? My intended major in college is photography but I know the following schools offer pre-college summer programs. Otis College of Art and Design Savannah College of Art and Design The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Rhoad Island School of Design I will apply to these schools but the chances of me getting financial aid is low. I know I can't afford them if I don't. Anyone know of any cheaper summer programs? If you have an experience with one of the schools mentioned or any summer program like these, tell me about them.
School of Art Institute of Chicago or School Museum of Fine Arts, Boston-Pros and Cons? SAIC or SMFA? I'm highly considering the two schools, but not sure?? Is one skool too stiff, and the other too relaxed? I know SMFA is for self driven artists (like myself) but choosing between the two is so painful, please insight from students or individuals also interested... **I've done research on the pricing..not worried about that too much, more worried about the characteristics of the school and the education/students...
Savannah College of Art & Design VS. School of the Art Institute of Chicago? I was wondering what school would be better for a BFA in fashion? Pros and cons, personal experience, etc would be helpful in my making the desicion for what school to attend! I'M SO UNSURE cuz I really love both schools and have visited them both. School of the art institute of Chicago or School of visual arts in NY? Okay soooo... I'm only 16 but I am trying hard to seriously look into my options I got a scholarship for the summer program at the art institute of Chicago for 1,100 but could not attend at the time cause my family couldn't afford it and couldn't get financial aid. Here is some of my artwork here http://www.flickr.com/photos/amanda_mae_sinclair/sets/72157619444146479/ I'm also looking into Maryland institute college of art and RISD any others that you would suggest for me? And also if you have any information on what i should put in a portfolio to apply. what do you think about SAIC and SVA ?? thankyou! SAIC is not part of the AI art institutes.
Top art school for Visual Communications? Or a list? Anything would be helpful. I got into School of the Art Institute of Chicago, but I'm concerned if it's fully worth how pricey it is. I know RISD is good, but I'm not interested in going to RI (no offense hah). Also, any idea why the acceptance rate for SAIC is 81%, while Art Center School of Design is 69%, and RISD is 29%. Should that be concerning? I'm just looking for some insight. Thanks!
Art Institute of Chicago or the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago? I'm going to be visiting Chicago for a day and would like to go to an art museum. But I don't know much about either. I'll be up there in May. As far as my preferences in Art, I like it all. I like a lot of traditional art and contemporary art (besides most of the my third grader could do that modern art). I'm going to school for architecture and minoring in Art History so I'd like to get the most out of this trip I could. Which Museum would you recommend? The Art Institute of Chicago, or the Museum of Contemporary Art? Thanks!

Illinois Institute of Art... what area of Chicago is the school located? I am currently looking for apartment options because I will be attending this school. Other than the recommended Presidential Towers, and the Dwight lofts. Just in case there is nothing available for me to rent. I found a website http://chicago.apartments.com/ that will show different apartments in different locations, but I do not know what the area the school is located in called. For instance... Chicago North, Chicago South, Cook County North, Du Page West Cook, Far North Suburbs, Far Northwest Suburbs, Far South Suburbs, Far Southwest suburbs, Far West Suburbs, and last but not least, Northwestern Indiana.
Which is better? The School of the Art Institute of Chicago or Pratt Institute? I have to make a decision between these two schools and I don't know which one would be a better choice. Here is a little bit about me: -I live in Chicago. -I've been drawing and loving art since I was five years old. -I'm interested in fine art, fashion, & photography. -I got a 4.0 GPA in high school. -I want an exciting college experience. -I want to become a successful career woman w/ fame and money. haha :) What do you guys suggest?

Why high acceptance rates at some top art schools? I know that School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Pratt are considered top art schools, but I looked at their acceptance rates and chicago has 81% and Pratt is at 42%. I was expecting at least under 30%. Can someone explain this to me?
What IL school has a good Music program as well as Art? My son is an Graphic Art major at a IL University, and is also intrested in Music. He has received several awards in High School for his art at local community colleges. However, his passion is music. He auditioned for American Idol last year when they came to Chicago. His current school does not have a music program he is intrested in. I believe is getting a little discouraged because he can't do music. Can anyone reccomend a school that has a good music program in IL if possible? We will consider outside of the state as well.
Tech school or art school? I've been accepted to Georgia Institute of Technology, Rhode Island School of Design, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Savannah College of Art and Design. Right now my biggest concern is what college to go to persue a media or animation related major. Important factors in my college choice include well-paying jobs after graduation, good academic environments, and tuition costs. I recieved $20,000 scholarship to SCAD and $5,000 to SAIC. I also have HOPE for Tech. Any advice is welcome.

the Top Art Schools in US?? how is Yale School of Art? What are the top and most well known art schools in the states? the ones with the best reputations? Please give me a list, for those who know. BTW, how good is Yale School of Art? do you need good SAT scores to study art in Yale? how is it compared to "well known art schools" such as RISD and The Art Institute of Chicago? Thank you!
Best art school out of Savannah College of art, Illinois Institute of Art, or American Academy of Art? First and foremost I'll be attending a local community college to get all my basic and core classes out of the way (the transferable ones anyway) then transfer out to a major art school. I'm talented in art but my grades in high school weren't as good as they could have been. So I'm going to get a high GPA and hopefully build maturity and what not through the Community college. I want to major in advertising/and or visual communications.(Graphic design) Which school out of American Academy of Art, Savannah College of art and design, or the Illinois Institute of art of Chicago is the best choice? Also which one would be the cheapest because money is an issue? I appreciate any help and answers thanks.
What is the best private art school for graphic design or visual communications? I am looking to transfer to a private art school and major in graphic design, I am looking into: The dashes represent the "BIGGEST" focus of what the schools seemed to push the most: Calarts (CA) -seem big on animation School of Visual Arts (NY) -seem big on illustration Kansas City Art Institute (MO) -seem big on sculpture The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (IL) -big on photo OTIS (CA) -not sure Ringling (FL) -animation I want a school that is a part of NASAD and is big on graphic design. I have also been told that the schools on the east coast are more traditional and ones on the east coast are more forward thinking. I combine photography and design in my work and would like to be at a school that has a similar philosophy as me. I am aware that Rhode island has a great MFA program in design, but they seem to be too traditional for me and quite a bit more in cost than these other schools. What school has the most foward thinking and biggest emphisis on graphic design? *west are more forward thinking and east are more traditional.
I am planning on going to school in Chicago, What should I know about the city before I make up my mind? I am a senior in high school from New Hampshire, I am originally from San Diego, CA so I am use to city life. I have recently gotten accepted to University of Chicago, Boston College, Southern Connecicut State University, Chico State, Bentley College, DePaul University, Northwestern University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, The Art Institute of Boston, UCLA, and Columbia College Chicago. Obviously Chicago is calling my name. I have wanted to live in Chicago my whole life.. but what is up with all the crime and is there anything bad about Chicago I should know before making my decision?
What are some good culinary art schools in big cities? I am graduating in like 2 years and i want to go to a culinary art school in the following cities : Chicago, ny ny, LA, Portland, Miami, or Paris. Other big cities are fine but i need some good culinary schools...HELP!?!?!?
Art School for architecture and Architecture degrees?? (Spam Juice) ? Hello, I am applying to art schools such as Pratt and Art Institute of Chicago and regular universities such as UCLA, USC, and Carnegie Mellon for a degree in Architecture. I know that UCLA offers a nonprofessional degree and others listed above offer professional degrees. I am curious if, in the real world of architecture, hiring companies looks more favorably upon the nonprof. Bachelor+March degree or Professional Barch degree. (Prof. Barch+March would be the best, but I am considering those two options above right now) Also, would they recognize a professional degree from an Art School such as Pratt or Art Institute of Chicago, good enough to be applied in the real world?? I mean, wouldn't they consider not as ready as the people with architecture degrees from UCLA, Carnegie, and USC, because art schools put less importance on science and math? 1. Degrees: Barch [vs.] BS or BA in arch + March??? 2. Degree from an Art School or regular public/private schools???
art grad school? i was wondering what my chances are of getting into a good grad school for painting (also some illustration, i want to do children's books) i'm from arkansas, senior finishing a degree in fine arts, and i have a 3.75. i've won several awards, and recieved scholarships to KCAI and MCA when i applied to undergraduate schools (but i couldn't afford to live out of state at that time) i've also headed arts programs at Girl's Inc and Hospice. i'm not really looking at going to a snotty school like RISD, but more like university of georgia, cal state-fullerton, indiana, or seattle. (or if i was to pick a snotty school, i wouldn't mind going to the Art Institute of Chicago) anyhoo, i was just wanting some advice on how to get into a great grad school and some steps i should take to help my chances. i'm planning on taking at least a year off to get some money since my parents aren't rich. Thank ya!
Is Columbia College Chicago a well rounded school? I know they specify in the Arts but I'm also thinking of going to Roosevelt University in Downtown Chicago because I thought they would have a more well rounded curriculum. (I'm going into journalism by the way) I really could care less if Roosevelt Uniersity isn't as "well known". Thats not a good enough reason for me not to pick the University so please don't answer saying that. But anyways, what do you guys think? If I go to Columbia will I get a well rounded education and is it a good place for journalism?
I want to be an artist...should I go to an art school? Okay. So I like drawing and painting. They both go together... I just don't know what professions or what the best schools are. I want to go to an art school because they are a bit cheaper. I've checked out the Art Academy in San Francisco but I am not a fan of California. I would love to stay in the east coast or Chicago.
Going back to school ...What are the requirements to be a grade school art teacher? I was thinking about my life and my likes and I was thinking of going back to school to be a grade school art teacher. How do you become an art teacher? What certificates do you need? How much schooling? Is there a program for this or is it more of a free-for-all? I have 60 credits for digital multimedia that I can probably transfer over… My whole family is artistically oriented and I am into clay, carving, jewelry, book binding, paper making, cloth crafts, photography... You name it, I can do it... My aunt was a teacher at the Art Institute of Chicago and is still known in her field… I picked up my love of art from her… With my propensity for art, I would LOVE to be able to teach kids to love art as much as I do... Unlike the art teachers I had in Illinois and Arizona that took all the fun out of it and tried to make it more of a math assignment then a creative experience... ANY pointers would be greatly appreciated!! Just to clarify... I'm NOT asking for IDEAS FOR KIDS... I'm asking about how to legally become a teacher of art at a Grade School... Certificates, Degrees, Training... How many credits? How long does it take to go back to school to BECOME an art teacher... How much does it cost to get the degrees and certificates to become a teacher… How much would an art teacher make, on average… (Since I know teacher pay differs greatly across the country…) Thank you very much for any answers but please note… I’m looking to BECOME a teacher, not find projects for kids…
Does anyone know any great art schools? After my two years at Saint Louis University, I plan on transferring to an art school to pursue a career in art, visual art. I'm not exactly sure on what I'll get into, anything that deals with visual art is good to me. I have looked at Kansas City Art Institue and the Art Institute of Chicago. They seem great, but I am not sure on a good art school. If someone can give me an opinion about these schools or any other, I would appreciate it.
Martial Arts in Chicago area? I am looking for a martial arts school in the chicago area. Preferably Muy Tai or Kick Boxing, and as close as possible to wheeling 60090 (or Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove etc). Thank you
Has anyone been to the Art Institute of Chicago? I am writing a report for school about it and I forgot the name of a Rodin sculpture that I'm supposed to critique. It's the statue that is upstairs by the Impressionists section of the museum. Here. luckily I took a picture of it: http://pwnagepolice.googlepages.com/IMG_1085.jpg Does anyone know the name of this piece? Rodin is a well known artist so I figure someone should know this. I'm such an idiot, next time I'll remember to write it down before I forget. Anyway, if anyone knows please tell me and thanks. c_mortuum, OMG THANK YOU! You just saved my life. I would select your answer as best answer but yahoo wants me to wait 4 hours before doing so. Well, until then.. THANK YOU SO MUCH! :-)
Does the Art Institute here in Chicago have sports teams? Or are they strictly arts?...? I'm very inerested in majoring in some kind of art... I'm a junior in high school now and we are supposed to be researching schools and stuff... Also, do you all know of any other art institutes close to Chicago other than the Art Institute of Chicago?... I also very athletic and would like to be on a track team in college...so that's why I asked about the sports teams there...they probably don't though...
